During June and July 2016, four 3rd year computer science students/graduates will have the opportunity to work at the SMSPortal offices in Cape Town.
According to a report by the International Data Corporation (IDC), South Africa’s software industry is forecast to see an 11.6% increase in enterprise applications software spending to R11.2 billion by 2017.
While research by Gartner shows that South Africa ranks among the world’s top 30 countries for software development and software developers are globally sought after.
Joining the ranks as a newly graduated software developer, however, requires experience and real world skill development, which an internship can provide. SMSPortal, a leading software house, believes that building a world class team is all about investing in people and creating the best possible environment for creative expression and growth.
Currently, the company has two developers in New York undergoing an intensive SQL training course with award-winning SQL blogger, a Microsoft Certified Master and Microsoft MVP, Brent Ozar.
“Our biannual internship programme has been a great success and a number of interns have gone on to take up full time employment at SMSPortal,” said James Pearce, SMSPortal IT Director.
The interns will experience what it’s like to work with the teams responsible for building and maintaining the systems that keep SMSPortal running.
The internship is paid and also offers free transport to Cape Town and free accommodation near the Century City headquarters.
